P-47 Thunderbolt

The P-47 Thunderbolt was a long range high altitude fighter that escorted USAAF bombers as far as Germany in WW2. It was the heaviest single-seat piston-engined fighter ever built and weighs over seven tons.
“Nellie B”, shown here is a P-47D whose markings are those of the 48th FG 492 FS. The ominous skies of our photograph seem appropriate for the Thunderbolt and would look great adorning your wall.
